Looking Back
It was my first time working for a corporate company. Although I was not in a design-focused environment, there were still expectations for me to follow a structured design approach and deliver multiple iterations, refining the solution each time. During this process, there are some key points to reflect on:
- Stakeholder Management: Ensuring that expectations were met for different people in a multi-stakeholder environment. I found that soft skills played a crucial role, including good communication, organization and planning, empathy, and honesty. This directly relates with my vision, where stakeholder involvement is paramount in achieving meaningful results.
- Articulating My Design Decisions: Effectively communicating my design choices to non-design stakeholders. This was my first time reporting to people without design experience. I had to navigate my design choices carefully and convey the reasoning behind them to those unfamiliar with basic design concepts.
